Co Chair, Ad-Hoc Committee for Irish Affairs Other Co-Chairs Hon. Richard Neal (D-MA) Hon. Peter King (R-NY) The signing of the Good Friday Agreement in 1998 was a historic event, but this was simply one achievement in the path toward peace. It is essential that the parties involved in the peace process continue the momentum toward change and reconciliation in Northern Ireland. It is that end which facilitated the creation of the Ad Hoc Committee on Irish Affairs. As a co-chair of this Committee, I have the opportunity to demonstrate my support and solidarity for this process by remaining in constant contact with those responsible for making peace in the North of Ireland. As a member of the International Relations Committee of Irish decent, and a representative of a vibrant Irish community in Queens, it is truly an honor to participate in this important body. |
