Vice Chair Crowley on the Passing of Former New York City Council Minority Leader Thomas Ognibene

(Queens, NY)Today, Rep. Joe Crowley (D-Queens, the Bronx), Vice Chair of the House Democratic Caucus, released the statement below on the passing of former New York City Council Minority Leader Thomas Ognibene:

“I’m truly saddened to learn of the passing of former Council Member Thomas Ognibene,” said Rep. Crowley. “Our city has lost a good and honorable man who was a passionate public servant. We didn’t always agree but he cared deeply about the people of Queens and he will be remembered for putting his community first. I offer my heartfelt condolences to his family and friends during this very difficult time and I join members of the community in mourning his loss.”

Congressman Crowley is the nine-term representative from the 14th Congressional District of New York, which includes sections of Queens and the Bronx. He is a member of the powerful Ways and Means Committee and serves as Vice Chair of the Democratic Caucus in the House of Representatives.
