(Washington, D.C.) – Today, Congressman Joe Crowley (D-Queens, the Bronx), released the following statement in response to the VA’s decision to end its enhanced-use lease proposal at the St. Albans Community Living Center:
“This is a great day for New York veterans. I am pleased the VA backed off its efforts to transfer land at St. Albans to private developers. This land has been, and always should be, for veterans and I’m pleased Rep. Meeks and I were able to play a part in ensuring our veterans’ voices were heard.”
Congressman Crowley is the seven-term representative from the 7th Congressional District of New York, which includes sections of Queens and the Bronx. He is a member of the Ways and Means Committee and is a chief deputy whip in the Democratic leadership of the U.S. House of Representatives.
