Press Release

(Washington, D.C.) – Today, Rep. Joe Crowley (D-Queens, the Bronx), released the statement below following House passage of the American Taxpayer Relief Act, the deal to avert the fiscal cliff:

“Tonight was a time for compromise and bipartisanship. It is what hard-working Americans wanted and deserved, and I'm pleased that we ultimately came together to stop a tax hike from hitting the vast majority of Americans.
“Although this deal is a victory for middle-class Americans, it is far from perfect. Tomorrow, we must pick up where we left off and put in place a plan that will ensure we both balance the federal budget and invest in ways to rebuild, reinvigorate, and strengthen our economy and keep our country moving forward."

Congressman Crowley is the seven-term representative from the 7th Congressional District of New York, which includes sections of Queens and the Bronx. He is a member of the powerful Ways and Means Committee and serves as a Chief Deputy Whip in the House of Representatives.
