Congressman Crowley on the Passing of Former New York City Council Member Walter McCaffrey

(Queens, N.Y.) – Today, Rep. Joe Crowley (D-Queens, the Bronx), Vice Chair of the House Democratic Caucus, released the statement below on the passing of former New York City Council Member Walter McCaffrey:

“I am deeply saddened to learn of the passing of my good friend, former NYC Council Member, Walter McCaffrey. Walter will long be remembered for his dedication to public service and his profound commitment to improving the lives of the people of Queens. My thoughts and prayers are with Walter’s family during this difficult time and I join the entire community in mourning the loss of a true champion who fought tirelessly to build a better, stronger Queens.”

Congressman Crowley is the eight-term representative from the 14th Congressional District of New York, which includes sections of Queens and the Bronx. He is a member of the powerful Ways and Means Committee and serves as Vice Chair of the Democratic Caucus in the House of Representatives.
